Pennypickles's Workshop

Temecula Children's Museum

Tinkering with Professor Pennypickle: (Pennypickle's Workshop - Temecula Children's Museum, 42081 Main St, Temecula, CA 92590-2769)

As every parent knows, the holiday season is incredibly busy. Between running from mall to mall trying to find the perfect gifts for the whole family, and negotiating with in-laws, it’s hard to find a second to rest. And just when you think you have a second to lie down, the kids get destructive from boredom after a week off of school. I barely have time to keep the house from burning down, let alone plan an engaging temecula kid activities for a gaggle of hyperactive children. Luckily, children’s museums recognize that. They offer to entertain our kids so we can focus on tracking down the perfect gifts as part of Santa's Workshop in Temecula, CA.
Pennypickles museum in temecula ca has a workshop, and is a place where friends of the temecula children's museum hang out for all seasons: we visit so often that we would buy annual passes in a heartbeat if they sold them. But winter break is definitely the most trafficked season, the kids visit the museum a few times a week this time of year. This year, they offered a “Holidays Only Kids Club”, a series of events from Christmas-time to New Years. Best of all, the events are drop-off, meaning parents get to enjoy some alone time! It’s been a godsend for my husband and I, who love our children but also love a quiet house. The kids are having a blast at all the events, and come home every time with a bunch of crafts and gadgets they built at the museum. One of the events was themed around the Polar Express, which my kids absolutely loved, as it’s one of their favorite holiday movies.
Outside of the Kids Club events, the museum offers 2-hour sessions. An entertaining 10-minute skit starts off the session, hosted by the museum’s namesake, Dr. Phineas Pennypickle. Then, they turn the kids loose into the museum. Every room is a different interactive experience, from a kitchen space to a music room with pianos and xylophones. The rooms are connected by tunnels that my children absolutely love crawling and chasing each other around through. Some of the kids’ favorite parts are the hall of mirrors and the “secret maze”. For my part, I always enjoy the wall-sized lite brite outside of the kitchen area.  The museum really is a god-send for stir-crazy children and parents, and we’re glad to learn more here in Temecula. My oldest son’s birthday is coming up in March, and he’s dead-set on having it at Pennypickle’s workshop. I reckon we’ll be spending a lot of time here in the future, and relaxing at the Europa Village next.
